Percentage Increase Calculator

Find the result after increasing a value by a given percentage

About this calculator

To increase a value by a percentage, multiply it by (1 + percentage/100). For example, increasing 200 by 15% gives 200 × 1.15 = 230. This is used for calculating price increases, salary raises, tax additions, and growth projections.

How to use

Enter the original value and the percentage to add. If your salary is 30,000 kr and you get a 5% raise, enter 30000 and 5. The result is 31,500 kr.

Frequently asked questions

Is adding 10% and then 10% the same as adding 20%?

No. Adding 10% to 100 gives 110. Adding 10% again gives 121 — not 120. Each percentage applies to the new value, not the original.

How do I reverse a percentage increase?

To find the original value before an increase, divide the new value by (1 + percentage/100). For example, if 115 is the result of a 15% increase, the original was 115 / 1.15 = 100.
