Compare calculators
Both calculators run independently β change the inputs on either side to compare results.
3D Print Scale vs Strength Calculator
Calculates how rescaling a 3D model changes its material weight, accounting for wall thickness effects. Use it before re-printing at a different size to predict filament use and structural changes.
3D Print Layer Resolution Calculator
Finds the ideal layer height for your 3D print given your nozzle size and stepper resolution. Use it before slicing to balance print quality against build time.
Optimal Layer Height
0.3 mm
0.2-0.32 mm is the standard range, about 50-80% of nozzle width. The example's 0.3 mm sits here β a balanced speed/quality choice that stays under the 80% extrusion ceiling.
Layer height is expressed as a fraction of nozzle diameter; the industry rule keeps layers between 25% and 80% of nozzle width, so a 0.4mm nozzle at 0.75 quality gives 0.3mm (example).
